Some receivers will support on board programming and others will require computer programming software to connect the key fob to the vehicle.
This particular fob does have on board programming; however, there are some contingencies.
The programming can be done on the 2023 Malibu if you have either 2 working programmed fobs, or no working programmed fobs.
If you only have 1 working unit now, you will need a locksmith to pair the new one and retain the programming of the first unit.
