To use the remote (automatic) engine start on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, the vehicle must be equipped with factory remote start and the correct key fob. Here’s how it works:
Make sure the truck is ready and all doors, hood, and tailgate are closed and locked.
Press and hold the REMOTE START button
(the circular arrow button) for about 2–4 seconds
Note: When purchasing a key fob, it’s important to choose one that matches your original in both shape and button layout. If your original key fob does not include a remote start button, purchasing a replacement with that feature is unlikely to work.
