- Remove the Mechanical Key: Locate the small silver release button on the side or bottom of the fob. Press it and pull the metal emergency key out.
- Open the Case: Insert the tip of the mechanical key (or a flathead screwdriver) into the narrow groove or notch located inside the key slot. Gently twist or pry to separate the two halves of the fob.
- Remove the Old Battery: Once open, you will see the battery on one side. Use a screwdriver or your finger to pop the old battery out of its holder.
- Insert the New Battery: Place the new battery in the holder. For most Cadillac fobs, the positive (+) side must face down.
- Reassemble: Snap the two halves of the key fob back together firmly until they click.
- Test: Slide the mechanical key back in and test the buttons near your vehicle to ensure it is working properly
