How to Program a 2023 Ford Transit Key Fob, Keyless Entry Remote, Smart Key
Step by Step How to Program Instructions:
If your Transit has a flip key system use the following procedure to add a key.
You must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you do not have two previously programmed keys you will need a Locksmith to cut and program a second key.
1. Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition.
2. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
3. Switch the ignition off and remove the first programmed key from the ignition.
4. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition.
5. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
6. Switch the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed key from the ignition.
7. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off and removing the previously programmed key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.
8. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least six seconds.
9. Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If the key has been successfully
programmed it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter). If it was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through8.
If your Transit has a smart key system use the following procedure to add a key.
You must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you do not have two previously programmed keys you will need a Locksmith to cut and program a second key. Use Locksmith Search to find a Locksmith in your area.
1. Close all doors and keep them closed throughout the procedure.
2. Make sure ignition is off.
3. Remove key blade from bottom of smart key
4. Remove rubber mat from bottom of cupholder.
5. Place the first programmed smart key in the bottom of cupholder with buttons facing upward.
6. Press the push button ignition switch.
7. Wait 5 seconds.
8. Press the push button ignition switch.
9. Remove first smart key.
10. Within 10 seconds place the second programmed smart key in the bottom of cupholder with buttons facing upward.
11. Press the push button ignition switch.
12. Wait five seconds.
13. Push the push button ignition switch.
14. Remove the second programmed key.
15. Within 10 seconds place the new unprogrammed smart key in the bottom of the cupholder with buttons facing upward.
16. Press the push button ignition switch.
Remove smart key from cupholder and test functions of new smart key.
To program additional smart keys wait 20 seconds and repeat steps to program an additional smart key.
