    It works for some cars

    I've owned this programmer for about 6 weeks and works well on GM and Chrysler, but cannot program the Volvo cars I tried, nor the 3 BMWs that I tried, could not program "all keys lost" on 2006 or 2007 VW Passat that I tried (even with factory Autel support). On the VW Autel recommended removing the actual Immobilizer chip, which I did. I really couldn't find sufficient information on programming from the bare chip, so I had to take this to the dealer also - where they programmed it through the OBD II port Every vehicle I have not been able to do key programming with the Autel through the OBD port, was taken to the dealers and programmed by them through the port. Hopefully Autel will come out with software to program at least the very common VW cars with all keys lost through the OBD port. Customer service at Autel has been super, but it needs more refinement of the software. Also there is a huge difference in the cables provided between the IM-608 and the IM-508. I was not told ahead of time of the differences in accessories including the key reader/programmer that connects to the Autel key programmers
